Darcy Deals?

This offseason could be one that fans really get to see what Darcy Regier can do.  The Sabres I believe are going to be busy in the next couple of weeks to help build their roster.  The question is what are the Sabres going to do?

First thing that many might think about is trading up in the draft.  A lot of people here in Buffalo think Alex Galchenyuk could be the answer for this team.

I think it could be a good idea but drafting someone that young you can never be sure if it will pan out and also dealing with his past injury.

With a torn ACL in his past that could raise some question.  People say his stock could fall because of it but if the Sabres stay where they are they will have no chance at him.

Next the Sabres could trade there picks along with their current players for an already established player. In the past year rumors have come saying the Sabres could be interested in the likes of Paul Stastny, Ryan Getzlaf and Jordan Staal.  The question I have is how much would you be willing to give up acquiring one of these players? The way deals are now with GM’s over valuing their players and balancing the cap makes this just a little harder to complete.  Maybe this will be an option but to me it’s again how much you’re willing to give up.

Lastly an option many don’t think of is going after a restricted free agent.  This to me could be a good idea for the Sabres.  The name Matt Duchene comes to mind.  Being a center a major need of Buffalo could be the player they need.  Also if they were to get him being restricted they would exactly know what they would be giving up.  Another name I can think that might get a look is TJ Oshie.

With that being said it should be interesting in the upcoming weeks starting with this one leading to the draft.  With Buffalo having 4 picks out of the first 44 I guess anything can happen. Make a move Darcy!
