IceCaps on a Roll

IcecapsThe St. John’s IceCaps added padding to their playoff position on Wednesday as they doubled up the Hershey Bears 4-2.

Patrice Cormier got things started in the first period for the IceCaps, just 4:06 into the game as he beat Bears goaltender David Leggio for the 1-0 lead.

The Bears would answer just past the half way mark of the first as Peter LeBlanc beat Eddie Pasquale to even the score at 1 after 20 minutes.

St. John’s would regain the lead half way through the second period on the power play as Brenden Kichton tallied his third of the season to put the IceCaps up 2-1.

In the third, the IceCaps would add to their lead, as Kael Mouillierat beat Leggio for his 5th of the year, putting St. John’s ahead 3-1.

Trailing 3-1 with 2 minutes to go in the game, the Bears pulled David Leggio, but to no avail as Brenden Kichton buried the puck into the empty net for his second goal of the contest, and a 4-1 IceCaps lead.

Ryan Stoa would finally beat Pasquale with 4-seconds remaining in the game, but it wasn’t enough as the IceCaps skated away with the victory.

Paquale made 23 saves for the IceCaps securing victory, meanwhile Leggio stopped 28 of 31 shots in a losing cause for the Bears.

Both teams will take Thursday off to celebrate the American Thanksgiving holiday. The IceCaps will travel to New York where they will take on the Syracuse Crunch Friday night, meanwhile, the Bears will rest up to host a tough Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins team on Saturday.
